The Good and the Bad:
Rachel wants you to take a moment in your Leadership journey to reflect on the diverse examples you’ve encountered, both the good and the not-so-good ones. Whether it’s mentors, managers, or personal experiences, think about what made those positive moments shine, the qualities you admire and aspire to incorporate into your own leadership style.
On the flip side, recall the negative encounters. Those instances where you cringed and said, “No way, I don’t want to lead like that!” Rachel wants to share a personal story that stands out for her. She, Inever followed the traditional path of a full-time job. Instead, she journeyed from high school to college to grad school, juggling side jobs and coaching volleyball along the way. But one internship in Malua, Kenya changed her life. Living and working at a hospital there transformed her from a timid, uncertain person into someone confident, trusting, and overflowing with gratitude for God’s goodness. 🙏
Within that internship, she crossed paths with a UK missionary who had dedicated a substantial portion of her life to working at the hospital. Sadly, Rachel’s experience with her wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows. Watching how the people under her leadership reacted made Rachel realize the leader she never wanted to become. She had an authoritative and domineering style, leaving no room for feedback or alternative perspectives. 🚫😔
As she collaborated with the Kenyans in the hospital, she noticed their fear of approaching the Missionary due to her attitude and leadership style. They held back their ideas and concerns because collaboration wasn’t encouraged. When a leader adopts an authoritative stance, creativity is stifled, and growth takes a backseat. So, upon reflecting on that experience, Rachel knew in her heart that she wanted to lead differently. It’s essential to be aware of the leadership styles we’ve encountered, drawing lessons from both the positive and negative aspects. Let’s embrace the power of growth and learn from every encounter on our leadership journey!

Faith-based Characteristics that are AWESOME in your business:
Alright, let’s deep dive into some awesome characteristics that perfectly align with faith-based leadership. Rachel has been immersing herself in Bible study and exploring this fascinating topic, and she’s discovered a few gems worth sharing. Brace yourself for some real nuggets of wisdom! 😄
First up, we have the marvelous virtue of humility. When Rachel envisions a leader, she sees someone who embodies humility. Picture this: a leader who understands that true greatness stems from serving others. It’s like what Jesus teaches us in Matthew 23:11—those who humbly prioritize serving and uplifting others are the ones who become the real champions. 🌟 When leaders embrace this mindset, they earn the respect and loyalty of their team. Plus, it sets the stage for a positive and empowering environment.
Next, Picture Proverbs 29:18 as your personal cheerleader. It declares that where there is no vision, people end up wandering aimlessly. As faith-based leaders, having a clear vision is crucial. It’s like having a GPS for your leadership journey. 🗺️ By defining your purpose and direction, and trusting that God is leading the way, you’ll navigate your team to success. Rachel is currently experiencing this firsthand, undergoing a thrilling transition in her business while trusting in God’s guidance. Talk about an adventure! 🚀
And here’s a little extra dose of inspiration. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us that even when we make plans, it’s the Lord who directs our steps. So, while it’s important to set goals and make strategic plans, always remember that the ultimate navigator is upstairs. Trust in God’s guidance, acknowledge that you can’t control every outcome, and have faith that He’s got your back. 🙏
Last but not least, let’s talk about being the shining example. In 1 Peter 5:2-3, leaders are called to be shepherds, guiding and caring for their flock. It’s not about gaining power or dominance, but about serving with genuine care and authenticity. As a leader, Rachel aims to be that guiding light, leading by example and inspiring others to follow suit. When leaders show the way through their actions and attitude, they ignite a fire within their team, creating a positive ripple effect.
Alright, let all these insights sink in. Harness the power of humility, keep your vision clear, trust in God’s guidance, and be the amazing example that lights up the room. Remember, leadership is a journey of growth and constant learning. So, go forth and lead with passion and purpose! 💪💫
How can you incorporate the virtues of humility, vision, trust in divine guidance, and leading by example into your own leadership style? What practical steps can you take to cultivate these characteristics in your business and inspire your team?
Take a moment to reflect on each of these qualities and brainstorm actionable strategies that align with your unique leadership journey.
