Step Out in Faith: Using Words of Knowledge to Heal – Episode 538

In this episode, I’m diving into part two of hearing God’s voice - this time focusing on how to hear God for other people through something called words of knowledge. I share what words of knowledge are, where they come from in scripture, and break down the different ways you can receive them. I also include real-life examples from my experiences ministering in Brazil, at events, and during church services - because let’s be real, I was brand new to this and so unsure at the start!

This episode is packed with encouragement to step out in faith, practical tips to discern what you're hearing, and reminders that it's okay to miss it - because we all do.

How to Receive and Act on Words of Knowledge

Here are the simple ways God might speak to you when He wants to reveal something for someone else—especially when it comes to healing or encouragement.

  • ✦ What is a Word of Knowledge?
A spiritual gift that reveals specific information about someone, usually related to healing or encouragement, which you wouldn’t know naturally.

  • ✦ Biblical Foundation
We break down 1 Corinthians 12:7–8 to understand where the concept of words of knowledge originates in Scripture.

  • ✦ Feeling It
Sometimes you’ll physically feel someone else’s pain or discomfort in your body—this is God highlighting an area to pray for.

  • ✦ Seeing It
God can show you a mental picture of the injury, object, or situation.

  • ✦ Reading or Thinking It
You may see a word or get a sudden thought that won’t go away, signaling something God wants to highlight.

  • ✦ Saying or Dreaming It
You might find yourself saying something without planning to, or dreaming about a person or condition that requires prayer.

  • ✦ Experiencing It or a Combo
Sometimes you’ll get more than one type—like a physical pain and a mental image.

Practical Takeaways: How to Step Out with Words of Knowledge

  • ✦ Ask God daily: “Is there a word of knowledge you want to give me for someone today?”

  • ✦ When you sense or feel something, ask God: “Is there more you want to show me?”

  • ✦ Say only what you receive—don’t interpret or add extra details.

  • ✦ Be specific and humble—“I feel like…” or “I could be wrong, but I saw…”

  • ✦ Don’t be afraid to get it wrong. Step out in faith.

  • ✦ If someone refuses prayer, don’t push. Be loving and respect their boundaries.

  • Don’t exaggerate or change the word—it can create confusion and people might miss their moment for healing.

Scriptures Mentioned in This Episode

1 Corinthians 12:7–8

“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit…”
