How to Use the 5-Step Prayer Model

  • ✦ Step 1: The Interview
Ask thoughtful questions to understand the root cause of someone’s pain or sickness. Examples include, “When did this start?” and “What is your pain level from 1-10?”

  • ✦ Step 2: Prayer Selection
Choose between a petition prayer (asking God) or a command prayer (declaring healing in Jesus’ name).

  • ✦ Step 3: Prayer Ministry
Follow the Holy Spirit’s lead, share testimonies to build faith, and pray short, intentional prayers while keeping your eyes open for God’s work.

  • ✦ Step 4: Re-Interview
Assess the changes in pain or condition after praying. Continue praying and asking for more healing if needed.

  • ✦ Step 5: Post-Prayer Suggestions
Encourage recipients to take authority over their healing, follow up with a doctor, and pay it forward by praying for others.

Practical Advice From This Episode:

  • ✦ Start with Love: Always let love motivate your prayers, even if healing doesn’t come immediately.

  • ✦ Watch for God’s Work: Keep your eyes open as you pray to see if healing starts happening visibly.

  • ✦ Use Testimonies to Build Faith: Share real stories of healing to encourage those you pray for.

  • ✦ Stay Spirit-Led: Be flexible to Holy Spirit’s guidance, even when it doesn’t align with the model.

  • ✦ Test Their Faith in Action: Encourage recipients to do something they couldn’t do before.

Scriptures Mentioned In This Episode

Matthew 4:23-25

“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.”

Mark 5:25-34

“And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, ‘If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.’ Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, ‘Who touched my clothes?’ ‘You see the people crowding against you,’ his disciples answered, ‘and yet you can ask, “Who touched me?”‘ But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.'”

Matthew 10:7-8

“As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”

Mark 16:17-18

“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

1 Corinthians 16:14

“Do everything in love.”
